After closing my physical gallery in Mt-Tremblant two years ago, my painting practice has been quite limited. Aside from a few commissioned pieces here and there, I haven’t dedicated much time to creating new artwork.
I even thought about giving up painting ’cause I was just so done sitting in the gallery waiting for visitors for like 25 years.
I recently started a new job in maintenance and repairs at the Office d’Habitation des Laurentides, and I genuinely appreciate how fulfilling it is. It’s a hands-on role that keeps me active, and to top it off, they provided me with a brand new Promaster Dodge truck to navigate through the beautiful Laurentians. I briefly considered becoming a truck driver, but I realized that sitting all day just isn’t for me. Instead, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to move around my 10 buildings in charming little towns, connecting with the residents who truly appreciate the work I do. Their warmth makes it all the more rewarding, and I wholeheartedly cherish that bond!
I’m actually in the process of updating my website to sell online. Wouldn’t it be super cool to bring back the amazing artists I used to represent? I’m talking about painters like Andrée Chartrand, Karen Savage, Anne Létourneau and Louise Larose!
This commission work was done around Christmas time for a lovely hockey family in BC, who decided to drop by when I was just getting my feet wet back in 2002. Fortunately, I was open that day! Sometimes it feels like my clients take longer to decide than a ref making a penalty call in slow motion!
